October in Minnesota, for many of us, means getting that last bit of time outdoors before the other shoe drops and the inevitable winter comes. So while the roads in downtown Minneapolis are still clear of snow and ice, we encourage you to visit our store soon and stock up on wine we have on special!
See our newest list of wine specials, below. Remember, too, that good weather, bad weather – or anything in-between – we are planning for a special wine tasting featuring Dreyfus Ashby this October 22nd. Call us at 612 339-4040, or send us an email at info@1010wws.com, for reservations. The cost of the event is $25, which can be used toward the purchase of anything that night.

Gerard Bertrand Saint Chinian 2011

Domaine Lafage Bastide Miraflors Rouge 2016
Languedoc-Roussillon, France
94 Points Jed Dunnuck
A wine that almost always over-delivers, the 2016 Côtes du Roussillon Bastide Miraflors is, I suspect, the finest vintage for this cuvée to date (it’s in the same league as the off-the-charts 2015). A blend of 80% Syrah and 20% Grenache from Lesquerde and Saint Martin de Fenouillet (both in the northern part of the Roussillon), aged all in older barrels and concrete tanks, it boasts rockstar notes of ripe blackberry fruits, spice, dried garrigue, and hints of chocolate. Possessing a full-bodied, layered mouthfeel, sweet tannins, and sensational purity, it’s another one of those values that almost seems too good to be true.

Clos du Mont Olivet Cotes du Rhone Vielle Vignes
Rhone, France
92 Points Jed Dunnuck
Showing terrific fruit and silky, elegant textures, solid complexity and plenty to love. Made mostly from Grenache planted in sandy soils, this terrific barrel sample offers full-bodied notes of strawberries, garrigue, and pepper, with a beautiful elegance and purity on the palate. Readers looking for a traditionally made, high-quality Côtes du Rhône can’t go wrong with this.

Willamette Valley Vineyards Estate Pinot Noir 2016
Willamette Valley, Oregon
92 Points Wine Advocate
The pale to medium ruby-purple 2016 Pinot Noir Estate has a wonderful open nose of black cherry, blueberry pie, cinnamon stick, nutmeg, warm earth and autumn leaves with pretty red and blue flower perfume. Light to medium-bodied, it fills the mouth with black and blue fruits layers plus oodles of spice and flower notes, with fine, grainy tannins and mouthwatering acidity, finishing very long and layered.

Roaga Opera Prima XVII
Piedmont, Italy
Opera Prima was created in the late 1970’s by Alfredo Roagna with the idea of assembling great vintages of Nebbiolo for Barbaresco in order to build a wine that can boast beauty from an array of different vintages. This release has some bottle age and is the best mature Nebbiolo we have tasted in recent memory. Do not miss this opportunity to drink a beautifully mature nebbiolo that is absolutely singing from a storied producer.

Produttori del Barbaresco Riserva Paje 2014
Piedmont, Italy
96 Points, Vinous
Beams of minerality and salinity cut through a core of dense, dark fruit in the 2014 Barbaresco Riserva Pajè. Deeply pitched and tannic, the 2014 is a super-classic, youthfully austere Barbaresco that is going to need time to be at its best. Readers should expect a firm, structured Barbaresco. The finish alone is striking. Crushed rocks, minerals, sage and lavender add nuance to this chiseled, finely sculpted Barbaresco. Readers who can find it should not hesitate.

Produttori del Barbaresco Riserva Rabaja 2014
Piedmont, Italy
96 Points, Wine Advocate
The 2014 Barbaresco Riserva Rabajà shows excellent textural richness with dark fruit, followed by notes of tobacco and tilled earth. Black truffle and dried fruit converge on the bouquet to add to the intensity. You really appreciate the freshness and sheer power of this succulent, well-structured and medium to full-bodied Barbaresco. This one's the real deal.

Beringer Knights Valley Reserve Cabernet 2015
Sonoma County, California
93 Points Vinous
The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is a selection of the best blocks and barrels in Beringer's Knights Valley property. Dark cherry, raspberry, espresso, graphite, incense and dried flowers are all fused together in this decidedly ample, voluptuous Cabernet. Here, too, the 2015 is more fruit-driven and less savory than it typically is. Even so, there is plenty to like.

Mt Brave Cabernet 2015

96 Points Wine Advocate
Composed of 87.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 3% Malbec and 1.5% Petit Verdot, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Mt. Veeder gives up notions of crème de cassis, violets, baker's chocolate, licorice and yeast extract with a touch of beef drippings. Full-bodied, concentrated and wonderfully expressive, the palate gives lovely ripe tannins and great freshness, finishing long and earthy.
